A challenging and unusual year is about to end and with it comes the opportunity to be grateful for many things including our health, our family and friends.
Christmas Carols
With visitor restrictions in place and different arrangements for the festivities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hardi Aged Care Manly Vale started the Christmas season with our Christmas Carol singalong. Conducted by our residents and staff, residents were excited to play different instruments and singalong to the songs being shown on the television.
Christmas is a time for reminiscing and the familiar music triggered many pleasant memories for our residents allowing them to remember Christmas traditions of their past.
Christmas Light Tour
Aiming to keep the Christmas activities calendar and spirit high, Hardi Manly Vale embarked on a special bus trip, to explore the local Christmas lights.
Days out for our residents are great for everyone’s wellbeing and overall happiness. These experiences allow them to try something different and assists with developing short term goals depending on their interests.
During the course of the evening, residents toured the streets looking at the light displays around the neighbourhood and were lucky enough to have time to stop for a quick cup of tea.
Residents Christmas Party
Christmas this year will be different from any other but despite the COVID-19 restrictions, our team were able to get together for our annual Christmas Party.
Our Manly Vale home was decorated beautifully with a large Christmas tree and photo booth showcasing residents photos.
Our catering team produced a magnificent spread for our residents and everyone enjoyed feasting together. Residents wore Christmas hats and the arrival of Santa and an Elf got everyone in the Christmas spirit!
One of our fun-loving residents Jutta cheered and stood up from her wheelchair to take photographs with Santa and said, ‘never ever have I seen two Santa together one has curly hair and bearded and other one has a mask!’.
Santa and the Elf distributed beautiful, personalised coffee mugs to the residents and many residents took the chance to take photos.
One of our residents, Ronald thanked everyone at Hardi Aged Care and said, ‘thank you for the delightful and wonderful Christmas Lunch Party during the COVID-19 restrictions’.
With great food, Christmas music, costumes and Santa, our residents could relax, smile, and reminisce about their Christmas stories and experiences. What a great day to celebrate life and love for the ones we care most about.
